Pagan Blog Project: C is for Christian Day

Warlock Christian Day
Christian Day. I must say he is a kind of role model for me. I admire his confidence and his willingness to stand up for what he believes in. His devilish good looks and witty sense of humor sometimes hide the fact that: The man has balls! He has made himself vulnerable to the public, although I'm sure he has the proper protection and magick keeping him safe from his haters and those that mean him harm. He does this in a way not many people would be comfortable doing. He proudly and openly states that he is a practitioner of witchcraft and necromancy. He challenges people (witches and non-witches alike) and makes them own up to their words and actions. He doesn't tolerate bullshit and from what I see on facebook and his Blog Talk Radio show (HEX Education) he is a loyal friend and will not stand by while his friends are being attacked by (dare I say it...) ignorant people.

One way Christian shows his pride and is by claiming the title: Warlock. Traditionally warlock has been known to mean oath breaker or traitor but Christian did his research and decided to take back the title of warlock. Historically a warlock was a male practitioner of Witchcraft. Warlocks and Witches practiced necromancy and would often be seen as rebels, questioning the churches authority. If that doesn't describe Christian, I don't know what would.

He takes his craft seriously. He is not someone that lives their practice in closets and the privacy of his own home. I really admire how public he his. I think he is a role model for every witch out there. Don't be ashamed of who you are and what you do and believe. What we do is not something that needs an apology. Christians don't apologize for being Christians. Why should we apologize for our beliefs?

I also think it's great how he dresses. Some people call him a freak or weird (or worse I would assume) but I love it! I think it's a way to take back an identity. What's wrong with dressing in full on regalia? What's wrong with wearing a real witches hat or a mask. A lot of pictures with Christian show him in his cloak. Does that make him any less of a warlock because he wears it? Hell no! If people don't take him seriously then that is their problem and I would go out and say it's a mistake. If you're on Christian's case and you piss him off enough and you think he's a joke... be prepared. I'm sure he'll send something your way.

Too many of us think that indulging in the more "fantastical" side of witchcraft cheapens our craft. I'm here to say it doesn't. Your practice is inside you and you know your own power. No amount of regalia or civilian clothes is going to validate you either way. The way you dress means very little when it comes to the craft. I however, admire Christian for dressing the way he does. It's him being himself and (in my opinion) sticking it to the haters. Personally, I think people are jealous that THEY don't have the balls to dress the way they want to dress so they take it out on people like Christian.

All in all, I really respect this man for being himself and standing up for himself and his beliefs. By the way... I completely recommend his book! Click on the picture below for the link to Hex Old World Witchery to purchase Christians book and click HERE for my reviews:
